Political activity abroad and imprisonment
Al-Saadi was in charge of handling the file of Libya's relations with a number of Arab and western countries, such as: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Italy, Canada, France, and Australia. These efforts yielded positive results on several levels. On the political level, for instance, Saudi Arabia mediated between Libya and the United States to resolve the Lockerbie affair. Also, improving relations with Italy led to it apologizing for the suffering inflicted in Libya during the Italian colonization, and subsequently, a huge compensation contract was signed worth approximately ten billion euros.
